NATR Becomes Yellowhammer Outdoors

Yellowhammer Outdoors Development provides the expertise, access to funding, and technical support needed to advance outdoor recreation projects in Alabama communities. In 2025, the nonprofit formerly known as North Alabama Trails and Recreation reached out to improve its branding, identity, and web presence. After partnering with EBD and eLsqrd, we provided a fresh logo & branding package and launched a brand-new WordPress website in early 2026.

The Projects

  • NATR prides itself as a resource for the entire state of Alabama, and felt like its name at the time inadequately reflected it. After focused discovery conversations about keywords, imagery, and alternative name suggestions that had available domains, they decided to move forward with the new name, Yellowhammer Outdoor Development.

  • The previous NATR logo had an array of nature-themed iconography in it, but it was muddled and crowded. Because Yellowhammer would be partnering with different types of organizations, they needed a logo that was distinct, representative, and the capability to standalone with or without text. The color palette within the brand’s logo and guidelines was chosen to complement each other, be accessibility-friendly, and be future-proof for a potential web application.
