Futaba Hobby Radio Control Division Trade Shows

Futaba USA Events

Because Futaba has been on hobby radio control enthusiasts’ airwaves since before Doc Brown traveled back in time, when they dictated a new department - their RC division, called Futaba USA - be established in Huntsville, AL, it came with room to expand. The Futaba USA team often travelled to events, sometimes only with a banner and tent, but we wanted to ensure we solidified our brand within the RC trade events.

Tents & Booths

Before I started, an octagonal Futaba-branded tent was purchased to be used as the first travelling RC event item. Once I joined the team, I expanded our stock to include a 10’ x 10’ display, a 20’ x 10’ display, and up to a 40’ x 10’ display that included the tent and a sales/merch area. This also included a few banners, some display stands, and general storyboarding before events. I researched and established all the necessary pieces to successfully transact while on the ground at these events, often selling smaller items like servos and receivers or merch.

The Active Part I Played

From the idea phase to event breakdown, I was entirely responsible for all digital and printed graphics, social media coverage, the build and removal of the displays, designing and ordering branded items, and running the sales. My work encompassed:

  • Design, production, and inventory of branded items for sale and free giveaway (Pens, t-shirts, jackets, coffee cups, lanyards, keychains)

  • All booth graphics from concept to completion

  • Multiple screenprinted t-shirt designs, organization, and delivery.

  • Printed banners and posters for sale and for display

  • Social media imagery and captioning for on-site posts

The Outcome

Futaba USA’s new branding entrance to the hobby radio control world was a raging success. Our event and trade show presence was particularly impressive, and we received numerous positive reviews both on the floor and after the event closed.
